Internships

We often have interns working with us in the studio, generally for 3 months (although there was one regular who came once a week for about 2 years….). We are happy to discuss any requests, but please note that we do not offer paid internships.

Karina Lavings

Intern

Karina joined Preservation Australia as an intern in 2015 after completing her Masters of Cultural Materials Conservation through the University of Melbourne. She worked with us for two days a week for nearly a year, while she practised and developed her hands-on skills in paper conservation - and searched for a paid position in conservation. She also knitted a lot and contributed to the intense cooking discussions over morning tea. Karina left us when she secured a one year, paid internship position at the National Gallery of Denmark, in Copenhagen Following the internship she returned to Australia where she has been working at various collecting institutions in Sydney, while still hunting for that elusive permanent position.
